Although it's often loud, busy and difficult to navigate, especially on sea days, it's a prime place to sit and people-watch. I found myself gravitating there repeatedly to enjoy coffee or a snack from the nearby JavaBlue Cafe while watching the cast from that night's show rehearse at Center Stage — something you can't usually do on other ships. Outside, the area continues with The Patio, which features a pool and hot tubs, and neighboring The Watering Hole, a bar that serves the space.

This was extremely disruptive and added to the already loud atmosphere. When you go for one of the largest, most luxurious rooms — and balcony — available on Carnival Paradise, you get a room designed to suit your desire for comfort, inside and out. Add VIP check-in, a huge balcony, and even a convenient dressing area with vanity and you can begin to see just how extraordinarily comfy the entire experience can be.
What to Expect in the Rooms on Carnival Celebration
Give me one or two pina coladas on a weeklong cruise, and I'm good to go. However, the massively creative options on the menus at both the Golden Mermaid and Dr. Inks, Ph.D., bars are absolutely worth a shoutout. It's an added-fee experience during which passengers (one to two people per ride) zoom twice around the track on a motorcycle-style vehicle that allows you to throttle up or down to a speed that suits you. Other venues in the area include the Marina Bar for cocktails and coffee, complimentary Italian restaurant Cucina del Capitano and for-fee seafood eatery Rudi's Seagrill, created by food pop artist chef Rudi Sodamin. On the wall above Dr. Inks, window-shaped screens provide a show for anyone passing through the length of the Currents promenade area.
These guests also receive priority spa appointments and free access to fitness classes and the onboard thermal suite. Premium "vista" balcony cabins are located in aft corners and boast larger wraparound balconies, while aft-extended-view balconies are located at the back of the ship and also feature larger balconies, though not wraparound. Cabins on Carnival Dream are roomy and comfortable, which is no surprise coming from a line whose inside cabins (at 185 square feet) are larger than the industry average. The comfort level is due in part to ample and conveniently placed storage space and a small touch that goes a long way -- robes (standard in all cabins, not just suites). There are also a handful of Aft Balcony Havana rooms (not located within the Havana complex); these rooms are the same square footage but include a 60- to 70-square-foot balcony instead of the lanai.
Each room has a desk/vanity with three drawers and a stool, and all but suites have three side-by-side closets, with two hanging sections and one with shelving. In suites, there are two larger-sized closets, as well as a walk-in dressing room with storage space. You'll also find two hooks on the wall for hanging jackets, sweatshirts or baseball caps. Ocean-view and higher-category rooms also have a coffee table and sofa; suites have an extra dresser for more drawer space.
This bar becomes a favorite for many Havana guests for pre-dinner and late-night drinks. Other upgraded amenities for Excel suite passengers include complimentary Bottomless Bubbles soda packages, room service and laundry service, sparkling wine upon arrival and upgraded bathroom toiletries. The adjacent fitness center is on the small side but features for-fee personal training and organized fitness classes, as well as equipment that's free for passengers to use. With calming seafoam green and yellow decor alongside extras like Elemis toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, these are some of the most relaxing cabins on any ship.

Other in-cabin amenities include a safe, robes, a phone and a hair dryer (hidden away in a drawer by the vanity). Carnival Sunshine's cabin choices offer many configurations, with some capable of fitting two guests, while others can accommodate up to five people through various uses of sofa beds and ceiling pull-downs. Also, for cruisers traveling together, Carnival Sunshine offers more than 200 connecting rooms, which sometimes permits sound through the connecting doors. A hair dryer, a safe, a non-stocked mini bar unit and a flat-screen TV. In my balcony cabin, there was a floor-to-ceiling window and sliding glass door. I also had plenty of closet space with hangars and adjustable shelves, although it could get tricky with two people in that narrow alley between the cabin door, bathroom door and closet doors all opening into each other.
Some Porthole cabins have sofabed for a 3rd person, some Picture Window rooms have sofabed and/or Pullman bed for 3rd/4th person. Small Inside cabins have bunk beds (upper/lower Pullman beds), living area (vanity, chair), bathroom (WC/shower). All cabin and suite mini-bars are stocked with premium liquors ($6-9,25), beer ($6,25), energy drinks ($5), soft soda/beverages ($2), bottled water ($3,75). There, you can order any of the same coffee beverages you'll find at JavaBlue but in far less time. If you're feeling more like a cocktail, you can grab one of those, too. On my sailing, the bartenders were phenomenal and even remembered that I prefer non-dairy milk with my lattes.
Some GS-OS suites have a single/double sofa bed for 3rd/4th person. All balcony accommodations feature a private balcony with sliding glass doors (table, patio chairs, rail with clear glass panel). Since 2017, Carnival Cruise Line offers a new program allowing ship passengers to customize their steward service by choosing to have the cabin serviced in the morning, at night or both (twice a day). All guests can choose from a list of additional cabin amenities, among which are bathrobes, extra pillows, blankets, closet hangers.
Located at the back of the ship on Deck 5, the Havana Complex features cabins and suites, as well as a private pool, hot tubs and outdoor bar. Suites in all three of these special accommodation types also give passengers the suite perks mentioned above. It was completely different — different color, different taste and different presentation — from what I received when I ordered the same drink on a sailing two months prior. However, the old ingredients were listed on the menu, meaning passengers weren't getting what they thought they ordered.
These rooms usually go from the 3rd deck up to the top deck of the ship. On average, they’re about the same size as an interior room, 185 sq ft, but when you add the 75 sq ft of the balcony, it makes it feel much more spacious. The rooms have large glass doors and windows so that the natural light can pour in. On the balcony itself, most ships have 2 straight-back chairs and a small table. While balcony cabins are what people may typically envision when picturing a cruise, interior staterooms offer a great starting point for new cruisers due to their low cost.
I was delighted with the three American style plugs at the desk and no less than four USB ports for charging the phone, my Apple watch, computer and other electronic accessories. The nightstands, however, are small, topped with slim metal trays that are far too low for the bed and barely large enough for a phone, let alone anything else. On the plus side, the main light control switches and a convenient unfolding reading light above the bed were a nice touch. The latter three come with additional perks that you might want for your cruise vacation, such as access to the exclusive Family Harbor lounge or Havana pool. While the majority of the fun will be located outside of your stateroom, you still want a comfortable “home away from home” that you can return to each evening and rest for the next day’s adventure. The range of cabins is one reason why Carnival Panorama is so great for groups -- even if your traveling companions have different budgets, there's a cabin to fit everyone's price point. In rooms with a balcony, you'll find a pair metal-and-plastic mesh chairs and a small table on the veranda. Balconies are a decent depth, and we were able to read comfortably while outside.
